When has a viral video has reached full pop culture saturation? Probably around the time a communist government references it: a propaganda video commenting on another country’s presidential candidate.
North Korea posted a video on their government website parodying PSY’s “Gangnam Style” invisible horse dance with the face of Park Geun-hye – South Korea’s governing Saenuri Party’s candidate – pasted on the dancer.
The music doesn’t exactly thump and groove like the K-Pop smash but its message highlights Park’s support of the actions of her father, South Korea’s former dictator. His legacy still divides South Korea’s people.
But the artistic endeavors of a dictated-to nation will never be as funny as those who parody said dictatorship. Barley Political’s spoof, “Kim Jong Style,” takes aim at North Korea’s recently succeeded Kim Jong-Un:
Everyone says South Korea makes the best K-Pop
You know who does a better job?
I’ll give you a guess
It’s the country whose #1 export is nuclear tests.
Maybe not so “Ha-ha” funny in reality, but you can still enjoy the video below.
