Love is dead, some might say. Others might say, what goes around comes around, but nobody’s attitude is going to change the fact that Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt yesterday, TMZ Reports.
The couple have been together for 12 years and married for two, they have six children together, three biological, three adopted. Their ages range from 8 to 14-years old. All of these numbers, one would think, would add up to some kind of happily-ever-after, but it’s just not the case.
Sources tell TMZ the decision to file had to do with “substance abuse” and Pitt’s parenting style. Jolie’s entertainment lawyer told TMZ that the decision was made by Jolie for “The health of the family.”
But other sources point to the close relationship between Pitt and Allied costar Marion Cotilliard (La Vie En Rose, The Dark Knight Rises) as the source of marital distress and ultimately the dissolution of marriage.
It is unclear whether the two were actually engaged in an affair, but whatever the case, it is reported that Angelina Jolie was very, very jealous of their apparent chemistry and was engaging in “crisis talks” with her husband over the matter.
Jolie cited “irreconcilable differences’ in her divorce filing and is asking for physical custody of all six children with Pitt getting visitation. Jolie has declined to ask for spousal support and has retained divorce attorney Laura Wasser to guide her through the proceedings. Wasser is the same divorce attorney retained by Heidi Klum in her separation from Seal, Vogue reports.
