What can I say? I am the luckiest girl in the world. I have the best boyfriend EVER and I get to do the coolest stuff. What did I do to deserve all this excitement and love?
It’s been amazing. The New York City trip was just perfect in every way. It was magical and surprising and unbelievable and festive. I’m going to show you in pictures. The first day we arrived we went to our hotel, which was the Waldorf…FANCY! omg. Then we walked to see Hamilton.
Here are some pictures that I wasn’t supposed to take.
The next day, Thursday, we went ice skating at Rockefeller Center. Seeing as Onofrio didn’t do so well the first time we went ice skating at Liberty Station, I was worried for him, but he did great. The shoes they use are hard plastic, so no wobbly ankles.
Then we walked around Midtown for a few hours.
We went into St Patrick’s Cathedral and lit a candle for my dad and Onofrio’s mom.
That night we went to the best restaurant in the Meatpacking District called STK – Super hip and super fun with great food. I highly recommend it. What am I now, a food critic?
Day Three was also full of fun. We started off the day with a tour of the Empire State Building which I kept calling the Eiffel Tower for some reason. Here’s a pic that everyone says I look plastic. I like it. haha.
We went back to the hotel to get ready for Jimmy Fallon! We sat in the way back and I took another picture that I wasn’t supposed to take. The view was great and the guest was even better, The Rock. After the show, Jimmy ran around the audience and we got to slap his hand. It was clammy. haha.
The next day it was shopping and pizza. I got all my Christmas shopping done!
If the Empire State Building wasn’t enough of a view of NYC, we went on a sunset helicopter Saturday evening. What life am I living again?
Then came Saturday night, the night of the big surprise. Onofrio told me that it was going to be magical, that it could only happen in NYC and that my dad would love it. What the heck? I was stumped. He said we were going to see The Bronx Tale at 10:30 that night. I had my suspicions. We had dinner at Tao, which was super cool!
Onofrio was nervous so I knew that surprise was happening soon. He told the cab driver to step on it because we needed to be there at 10:15 to get the tickets. When we arrived at 30 Rock, I knew what was happening. We were going to see Saturday Night Live. I was so stoked. But, Onofrio said that wasn’t the surprise. What??? After the show, he said we were going to stay in our seats. After everyone left, an usher took us downstairs to the floor. On the way down the stairs I see Bobby Moynihan and freak out. Then I see Colin Jost and freak out. Then I see Beck Bennett and freak out. Then we walked down the floor toward the stage and there was Vanessa Bayer. I freaked out. She said “HI! Let me give you a hug!” Omg I love her. She then said, “Let me take you on a tour!” What???
A tour of the stage and sets and dressing rooms of the show I have watched my entire life. I started watching with my dad during the old John Belushi days. That stage has hosted everyone! I got to stand on it and walk around. What am amazing surprise. I can’t even believe I am in love with someone who is so kind and knows me so well. How he made that happen I will never know. But, I will never forget it. Onofrio is an incredible person. I love him and I love NYC but nothing beats San Diego.
Here’s me and Kate McKinnon!! She’s amazingly talented.
This is their tiny dressing room!
I’m one lucky girl.
See you next year, Diary!
