In the hours since Dean Spanos confirmed the Chargers relocation to Los Angeles, San Diego fans have run the gamut of grief. Grief that seemed to climax when a pile of Chargers swag was dumped at the team’s headquarters by former fans and set aflame. The Bolts literally sparked a fire of outrage.
Now, in the blurry light of the-day-after, the city is dusting off it’s bolt-less shoulders and looking toward the future of NFL in America’s Finest City.
“The passion that San Diego has and a fan base that supported this team when, you know, through not a lot of winning seasons, shows the kind of community we are and that’s something to be proud of, obviously,” said Mayor Faulconer in an interview with Jeff and the Showgram. This same passion, he says, will make us attractive to other NFL teams in the future. “We’ll look at all kinds of things down the road here.”
The Mayor’s sentiment, expressed in his official statement, that the Chargers lost San Diego, not the other way around is being echoed by many fans across social media.
