Todd Velasquez, David Jewell, Aaron Acevedo, Andy Voggenthaler and I wanted to truly finish Chelsea’s run at Lake Hodges.
We wanted 100 people to show up on that day to make a statement and to FINISH CHELSEA’S RUN. Well, we didn’t get 100 people that day. We got 3,500.
Today, as I look out in to the crowd, we are hoping to one day get 10,000 change makers signed up to FINISH CHELSEA’S RUN.
This morning, we are close. We are at 8,000 Changemakers!
Look around. Look at all the smiling faces. Look at all the children that are here today.
It’s been 7 years BUT Chelsea King is ALIVE. Her spirit and her LIGHT is right here with us. She is here through all the children and through all of you.
We need to learn to see Chelsea through our hearts.
What I love about Brent and Kelly King is that they want you to also remember Amber Dubois. When you think of Chelsea, you think of Amber.
Amber’s family is here today.
When you finish Chelsea’s run today, it is more than just finishing a 5K. When we cross that finish line, we are continuing to carry on what Chelsea King was all about and all that she believed in.
SMILE THIS MORNING. SMILE when you think of Chelsea.
If I can please get your attention:
The starter this morning is a young man named BILLY BURKE.
He is named after his grandfather. His grandfather is a mountain climber and was scheduled to climb mount everest in 2011. He wanted to dedicate his expedition to Chelsea and Amber.
He was given 2 items to carry with him. Brent and Kelly gave him one of Chelsea’s scarfs and Amber’s mom gave him a little stuffed lamb in honor of her daughter.
HE REACHED THE TOP OF MT EVEREST inspired by those items that he kept as he climbed to the very top. He reached the summit with Chelsea and Amber.
So, please welcome the official STARTER FOR THIS MORNING. BILL BURKE’s grandson!!!!!
