Every Friday Movie Mom Nell Minow visits Jeff and the Showgram to give us the lowdown on new movies coming to a theater near you!
Boss Baby: According to Movie Mom, the trailer doesn’t do it justice. “[The movie] addresses an issue that most kids have to deal with, but that we don’t see in movies very often, sibling rivalry.”
It’s based on the idea that anybody who’s ever lived with a baby knows, the baby is the boss. The baby decides when you eat, when you sleep and everything else, but this movie takes it a step further by adding literal “boss” elements with suitcases, sushi and the voice of Alec Baldwin.
The movie then goes on to address how the kid that’s already there deals with all this. (listen to the full review below.)
The Zoo Keeper’s Wife: A Holocaust movie about a married couple who operate a zoo in Warsaw in WWII. The couple hide Jews from the Nazi’s, in animal cages beneath the ground, and help them escape. Jessica Chastain is the lead. Movie Mom gives it a thumbs up for high school and up.
Ghost in the Shell: This movie is controversial movie (accused of whitewashing when Scarlett Johansson was cast to play a Japanese character) That aside, the movie gets a big, dumb, dull and loud rating from Movie Mom. She calls it the bad version of Blade Runner. (Listen to the full review below).
