WATCH: Star Wars Celebration Orlando’s Touching Carrie Fisher Tribute

Star Wars Celebration Orlando or #SWCO, has been a mecca of over-the-top Star Wars fandom since 1999, when Lucasfilm launched the gathering to fuel “The Phantom Menace” release.

This year, the three-day celebration of celebrity panels, merch and sneak peeks was tempered by the sobering absence of one member of Star Wars royalty – Carrie Fisher, also known as Princess Leia, one of the strongest leaders of the resistance.

During the 40th anniversary Panel at #SWCO Lucasfilm unveiled a touching video tribute to Fisher, which was followed by a live performance of Princess Leia’s Theme by the Orlando Philharmonic. The video cuts behind the scene footage with interviews against the backdrop of David Bowie’s “Rebel Rebel.”
