Hi there. I hope your week has been good. Man, my week has been rough.
I am not sure if I really know what “Mercury being in retrograde” means, but from what I’ve read, it’s something with the planets that affects our lives big-time.
It happened on Tuesday. Mercury was in retrograde. Tuesday was also the day that I had scheduled to take our two rats, Milky and Cookies, to be put down.
They both had a several tumors, and they were growing rapidly. They were about four-years old. They were supposed to be for Reed, but we all know how that goes. Robert and I took care of them, and actually paid the most attention to them. I never, though, thought that when they passed I would be so sad about it. Pets are so magical.
On Tuesday I spent most of the afternoon snuggling with them before my 2:45 appointment at El Cerrito Vet. The two women who worked there must have known what my appointment was for because they looked at me with such compassion.
THAT was the point where I just lost it. It was real. I was choosing to end these two adorable creatures lives. The two women were so incredibly sweet, and the two women that were in the waiting room with their pets were very caring too. So, if any of them happen to read this, thank you.
I said my goodbyes to Milky and Cookie before handing them to the veterinarian. I Got in my car and had a nice long cry.
Rest in peace sweet Milky and Cookies.
On a lighter and much happier note, last week was my mom’s birthday.
She wanted to have a picnic with her daughters and grand kids. I volunteered to prepare the food and set it up. Once I got the ball rolling, I decided to go with a Hawaiian theme. OMG the 99 Cent Store has the cutest stuff!
I found all of the stuff on the table and fun leis, etc there!
I even got the rolls for the pulled pork that I made. It was so so yummy! I also made fruity drinks with umbrellas, macaroni salad, and an Asian sesame green salad! Check out these napkin rings I made with shells, wire and a glue gun!
I told my family to dress tropical if they wanted 🙂 I just LOVE theme parties!
My mom was so happy. She even cried. Moms are the best.
I wrote her a poem, which I framed and put on the table. You can read it at the bottom of this post.
Speaking of theme parties, I am going to a fun one tomorrow! It’s a luncheon for the Vista Hill Foundation and its 007 theme! Any ideas for clothing? Send em over 🙂 firstname.lastname@example.org
Well, thanks for reading, and for all of your feedback so many times when I have used this platform to share my feelings. I can’t express how much it means that you take the time.
Have a good weekend! Love, Emily
