At San Diego Comic-Con 2017, Star Trek fans were treated to the details of the brand new Star Trek series: Star Trek Discovery, including the release of a brand new trailer:
50 years after the original Star Trek was beamed to our television sets, Star Trek Discovery is born. The new series is a prequel set about 10 years before the original voyage. There will be a new ship, new characters and new missions, while carrying on the Star Trek tradition.
Sonequa Martin-Green stars as First Officer Michael Burnham. You may recognize Green from her recent role as Sasha on The Walking Dead.
Younger versions of two characters from previous Star Trek series include Spock’s father, Ambassador Sarek (played by James Frain), who in this new series is also First Officer Burnham’s surrogate father. The other character, con man Harry Mudd (best know for the “Trouble With Tribbles” episode in the original Star Trek series) is played by Rainn Wilson.
Other cast members include Doug Jones, Jason Isaacs, Shazad Latif, Anthony Rapp, Michelle Yeoh, Mary Wiseman, Chris Obi, Mary Chieffo, Terry Serpico, Maulik Pancholy, Damon Runyan, Kenneth Mitchell, Clare McConnell and Sam Vartholomeos.
Star Trek Discovery will premiere the first episode on the CBS Television Network on September 24th. After that, the series will be available on CBS All Access, where subscribers can access new episodes on demand, with a new one airing each Sunday. The first season will be 15 episodes with 8 running from September 24th through November 5th, and the 2nd half of the season resuming in January.
CBS All Access is currently available any number of ways, including online at CBS.com, on Mobile devices via the CBS app, Roku, Apple TV, Chromecast, Android TV, XBox, Playstation 4 and Fire.
