AJ’s Feel Good News Fri. 9.29

A 74-year-old architect named Joseph Badame has been living in the same house in Medford, New Jersey for 40 years.  And he’s a DOOMSDAY PREPPER, who thinks the global economy will collapse someday.

He and his wife spent decades converting their home into a shelter, so up to 100 of their friends and family could survive there if they needed to.  But unfortunately, his wife passed away a few years ago, and the bank recently foreclosed on their property.

He says he lost interest in the whole survivalist thing after his wife died.  So he decided to have an estate sale last weekend, and sell off all the survival stuff they’d accumulated.  A lot of it was big stuff, like generators and refrigerators.

He ended up hiring a 30-year-old caterer named Victoria Martinez-Barber to serve food during the sale, which was HUGE. About 2,000 people showed up.  And she mentioned that all the money she made was going to her family in Puerto Rico, who lost their home in Hurricane Maria.

So first, he tossed in an extra $100.  Then he realized he could do a lot more . . . and showed her the room where he stored all his FOOD.

He literally had BARRELS of things like rice, canned goods, and other stuff that wouldn’t spoil.  And now he’s donating ALL OF IT to help hurricane victims in Puerto Rico.

He says he felt like he’d lost all purpose in his life after his wife passed away.  And now it’s back.
