The song, “Best I Ever Had,” off DeGraw’s upcoming fourth album, is a foot stompin’ folk ode to a very special someone.

Written by DeGraw and Martin Johnson from the band Boys Like Girls, the track is much more in your face than the singer/songwriter’s previous work.

On it he sings with a slight twang and a lot of sass, “You’re my neon gypsy, my desert rain, my Helter Skelter,” before letting this special lady know she’s the best he’s ever had.  

Though DeGraw has not announced an official release date for his upcoming album (it’s slated to come out later this year), fans can hear him try out new songs on his upcoming tour with Train and The Script. The tour kicks off in Cleveland, Ohio on July 17.

The crooner co-penned Beyonce’s 2007 hit “Irreplaceable,” and is now speaking out on his latest work with Bey for her upcoming fifth studio album, expected this year.

“I’m still putting stuff together for Beyonce’s album,” he told Billboard. “They’re still trying to figure out what they want that to be, which I’m not mad at.”

Bey has reportedly been working on the record since last summer when she met with the likes of Ryan Tedder, The-Dream and Sia in the Hamptons to collaborate on potential album material. While the effort is months in the making and remains unscheduled for release, Ne-Yo says it will be worth the wait.

“Beyonce’s the kind of artist where you’re not gonna see it till it’s right,” he said in the interview. “And her fans — they love her so they’ll be patient.”

No official single has been released, but fans have had a taste of what to expect with new tracks appearing in recent Pepsi and H&M commercials, along with a contribution to animated movie Epic‘s soundtrack, “Rise Up.”

Since its release over a month ago, the song—co-written by fun.’s Jack Antonoff—has found its way into the LGBT community and deeply resonated, thanks to its encouraging message. Toss in a shout-out from George Takei, and the song is practically an anthem. However, all the love for “Brave” has surprised Bareilles.

“The messaging of the song felt anthemic to me personally,” Bareilles told Radio.com about the track, which she wrote not only for her friend, but also as a way to address her own demons. “But I didn’t really realize that it was going to connect in the way that it did, and it’s really amazing to watch this song sort of take on a life of its own.”

On her recent solo tour, Bareilles asked fans to share some of their bravest moments by writing them down on a postcard that she would feature on her website. “It’s not like people were writing, ‘I’m brave enough to win the basketball game,’” she explained. “It was like, ‘I’m brave enough to tell my family who I really am.’”

The stories that were shared actually inspired Bareilles to turn her “Brave Enough” postcards into an initiative. She hopes to get the concept into schools in the next year.

“It’s a really reflective process to look at your fears in that way,” Bareilles said. “And what I like about the concept of brave is that it’s not about the outcome. It’s about the intention of turning to face what scares you.”

This is something she believes our country needs to do when it comes to the issue of gay marriage, particularly as the Supreme Court prepares to make a decision on two high profile same-sex marriage cases. The first is the decision on overturning Proposition 8, California’s 2008 constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage. The other is whether the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA)–the 1996 law that restricts federal marriage benefits be given to only heterosexual couples–should be ruled unconstitutional. The decisions are slated to come by the end of June, and could arrive as soon as this week.

“I think for me this has always been a human rights issue and I feel embarrassed that we’re still having these conversations in 2013,” she said. “I understand why [the issue] is complicated, but to me its such an obvious development that just has to happen.”

In the clip for “We Can’t Stop” Cyrus tries her best to make you forget about her Hannah Montana days. She twerks it in skintight white leggings and a matching crop top. She also does a little advertising for Beats By Dre (she’s a fan of the orange Pill portable speakers) and EOS chapsticks. She French kisses a life-size Barbie doll version of herself. And breaks a piñata full of hot dogs and hamburgers. Basically, she’s just being Miley.

The singer debuted her new single, “Woman’s World,” off her upcoming album Closer To The Truth (out September 24). The upcoming release will be her first in 12 years.

Wearing a neon pink faux-hawk wig that many thought was actually a bird, Cher strutted her stuff in a bondage-style bustier and skinny, skinny leggings as she sang her heart out for the ladies.

Strobe lights pulsated along to the song’s electronic beats as a team of female back-up dancers helped add a little energy to the performance. Watch the clip below.

The performance wasn’t without its hiccups; Cher seemed a little off tempo while singing the chorus. Even the singer took to Twitter to address some of the technical problems on the song.

No matter its problems though, the song, written and produced by Paul Oakenfield, is bound to be a hit in the clubs, picking up where Cher’s 1998 mega-hit single “Believe” left off.

But the night was certainly not all about Cher; it was about crowning the season 4 winner.

Hanson performed a career-spanning, two-hour set during their June 17th birthday show, just one of two nights spent celebrating at NYC’s Irving Plaza. While older tracks like monster hit “MMMBop” and “Lucy” off 1997′s Middle of Nowhere received the most screams, don’t count out 2000′s “This Time Around” and current single “Get The Girl Back” — they were close contenders.

Before Hanson took the stage, tracks from their new album Anthem were played on the speakers and many in the crowd already knew all the words, though the record’s official release date was the following day. I mean, I could name them all [but] we we ain’t got time. I had to go away to treatment and I want to let you know that this treatment center is called Timberline Knolls. It was here in Lemont, Illinois.”

“Every time that I play Chicago, I don’t know what it is,” Lovato continued. “Maybe it’s because I felt so much love here and I’ve been through so much. I just want you guys to know that when I come to Chicago, I never forget that this place is the place that saved my life.”

“If anybody out there is dealing with an eating disorder, substance abuse, cutting, bullying, whatever it is,” she told the crowd. “I want you guys to know that I’ve been through it and that I’ve gotten through it and you can do it too.”

Legend premiered his new single, “Made To Love” on Monday (June 17) via the blog, Hello Beautiful. The song has a little bit of that spaghetti western feel Legend nailed on his song, “Who Did That To You,” which was his contribution to the movie, Django Unchained. But for this one, Legend manages to add a bit of EDM and a dash of classical flair that includes a segment of operatic vocals. On this one, percussion (specifically African tribal drums and handclaps) take the place of his usual piano-centric melody as he croons, “I was sent here for you/We were made to love.”

Kimbra, who sang on Gotye’s 2012 smash hit “Somebody That I Used To Know,” provides the haunting backup vocals and even shows off her scatting skills. The song was produced by Da Internz, Dave Tozer, Nana Kwabena and Kanye West. Legend has worked with Kanye before and is reportedly featured on the rapper’s most recent album, Yeezus.

The song will be on Legend’s upcoming album Love In The Future, out June 25. This is his first studio album since 2008′s Evolver.

“I go for months without writing, and then I’ll write a bunch of songs in a few weeks sometimes. Once I have enough songs around, that’s usually when we kind of make a few phone calls and say let’s try to do one of these again,” Johnson explained to WXRT’s Marty Lennartz regarding his songwriting process leading up to the recording of a new album.

“My wife is kind of the one who tells me — that’s her job, to tell me what to do,” Johnson deadpanned about his latest batch of songs. “She’s always part of the writing process. We met when we were 18 years old. The first songs I ever tried to write, she was my first ear that I would play them to. She always had better taste and was smarter than I was, so I’ve always trusted her. If she told me she liked a song, it was cool.”

Recording the new album in his own Mango Tree Studio in Hawaii (“When you’re there, it’s just a two-car garage. The photos probably do it more justice. The outside is really nice…My brother and I built it”), Johnson explained how From Here to Now to You is a much mellower affair than his last album, To the Sea, which was powered by the decided presence of electric guitars in the mix.

“I had to get my rock out before I turned 40,” Johnson laughed in regards to the plugged-in aspect of To the Sea. “I used to be in a punk rock cover band in high school. We did all Minor Threat, Fugazi, and Bad Religion covers.

“There’s actually one song on this record called ‘Tape Deck,’ and it’s all about our first band, Limber Chicken,” Johnson elaborated. “It’s the story of that band, how we got our instruments, practicing and stuff. It’s funny, because we recorded it on a nylon string acoustic (guitar) and an upright bass and a little hand drum. It’s the most un-punk thing you’ve ever heard. It’s pretty funny. As an 18-year-old, I would’ve just hated me for doing it. The lamest 38-year-old thing to do.”
